Just wanted to send a big "Thank You" out to all the players that skated for us the past three years in a Steelhounds jersey...to the coaches, equipment personal, trainers, radio annoucers, soundman, ice patrol, the office staff & especially to the owner, Herb Washington. Thanks for three thrilling hockey seasons. But as we know, nothing lasts forever in this life & owning a hockey team is not a very profitable business venture. What about owning a hockey team just for love of the game? Then again I'm not paying all the bills. Would love to help out Mr. Washington, but I don't have a pot to **** in. Should we rush into a league this season? If it is rushing that is. There has been plenty of thinking the last couple years. But if we go dark, would our attendance be there next season? Whatever is decided, I am just glad to have seen hockey in our town. I also know I would not be happy to see a junior hockey team in the Steelhounds place. The one thing I have enjoyed about the CHL has been the mix of young upcoming players with the leadership, knowledge, skill, and experience of our veterans. Also, just as a side note, since there's so much blameslinging going on, don't forget the give "The Vindy" their fair share. They were the ones that first starting putting a panic in everyone last season, while we were waiting, not so patiencely, for our first home game. They were the ones who called the CHL and the ECHL and Godonlyknowswhoelse...about us changing leagues. Why on earth would you bring up a future season when your town just wants to see their team play on home ice??? Did that have something to do with a lower attendance last year? hum....and to the CHL powers that be. Get off you high horses! You should have at least had the courtesy of giving us a few more months of a notice...like before other leagues put their schedules together. But what do you care? Just like your sister company screwed up the Chevy Centre why should we expect anything different? To end on a good note, I do truly wish all our players and staff good futures and much success whatever they do and whereever they are! Thanks again!
